breaking: jonathan and russell have been suspended
Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand have been suspended following the prank calls they made to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.
The pairs’ shows will be taken off air until the BBC has investigated the calls made on Russell’s Radio 2 show.
Russell and Jonathan made a series of calls to the 78-year-oldactor boasting about how Russell had slept with Andrew’s granddaughter.
A whopping 18,000 people have complained to the BBC and Andrew was said to be ‘very upset’ by the calls.
The pre-recorded show was broadcasted on October 18.
Meanwhile the actor’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie has called for the pair to be sacked over the prank.
She told The Sun her grandfather was ‘really upset and says he wants the whole situation to end’.
She adds: ‘What’s funny about humiliating a lovely old man who has never harmed anyone in his life?
‘It was bad enough that they recorded these things on my grandfather’s answer machine but astonishing the BBC saw fit to broadcast it when they could have stopped it.
‘Someone high up at the BBC must have decided it was funny and suitable for national radio. They’ve shown an appalling lack of judgement.’
Jonathan has sent his apologies and some flowers to the actor but Andrew told the BBC he is yet to hear from Russell.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has even had his say on the matter. Yikes.
The PM said it was ‘inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour’.
