all the goss from last night’s mtv europe music awards
The celebs (plus a handful of WAGs!) were out in force last night at the MTV Europe Music awards in Liverpool.
Even Kerry Katona made an appearance, despite getting booed by the crowd. Ouch.
But us poor Brits went home almost empty handed with only two UK artists bagging awards. Surprisingly one of the stars was 80s, erm legend(?) Rick Astley. Rick was named the Best Act Ever thanks to Rick-Rolling earlier in 2008 which meant that millions of people (albeit accidentally) watched his video Never Gonna Give You Up.
We don’t think Rick was too impressed however, he failed to show up and even refused to record an acceptance speech.
X Factor champ Leona Lewis went home empty handed despite being nominated for a whopping three gongs. Oh, the travesty!
There were some great performances though with Take That performing at the bash for the first time in fifteen years.
And Sir Paul McCartney walked home with the Ultimate Legend Award.
‘I want to thank my mates Ringo, John and George,’ said Paul. ‘Many years ago four little boys went on to do quite well. Thanks to everyone – and thanks to all Americans for voting for Obama.’
The bash was hosted by American singer Katy Perry who as well as having numerous outfit changes also managed to bag the New Act award.
