new interview: gossip girl’s chace denies cast catfights

Posted: 14th November, 2008

Much to the delight of almost the entire British female population Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford is paying us a wee visit from over the pond.

We caught up with the young actor as he promoted the Gossip Girl DVD in London yesterday and he gave us the lowdown on life on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

And despite all the rumours, the cast aren’t bickering like those cranky X Factor judges, but instead actually like each other very much.

Awwww.

‘That’s the funny thing they always try and twist our private lives,’ says Chace.

‘They want it to be like the show with the catfights but it’s exactly the opposite. After an 80 hour week we’ll be in the van exhausted and we’re like ‘Hey what you guys doing? Do you want to grab some food?’

‘We’re all very close and we’re best friends. We get along very well, surprisingly I know. I wish it was more interesting.’

Chace plays Nate Archibold in the hit US show and he admits he has similar qualities to his character.

‘Yeah I just love getting myself involved in massive love triangles all the time,’ jokes Chace.

‘I am a bit. I like to have a bit more fun. I’m a little more lighthearted. But yeah there’s certain parts of me that come out in the character and it’s very fun to play.’

Chace does his fair share of kissing in the show, so who’s the best kisser, Blake Lively (Serena) or Leighton Meester (Blair)?

‘Can’t say. It’s never really a real intimate kiss. So I couldn’t really say. It’s very professional,’ says Chace.

That’s the right answer!

And when asked if he ever got a little erm, excited during a kissing scene Chace replied: ‘Ha ha. Never. Trust me. The intimacy is lost very quickly when there are 60 huge crew members eating hamburgers watching you. It’s very mechanical.’

So what does a single British girl like us have to do to win the heart of America’s newest heartthrob?

‘I’m very simple. If you like sports and football as well it’s welcome,’ says Chace.

And the star says he’s learnt a few tips about us Brits from his Essex-born co-star Ed Westwick.

‘I can go see Guy Ritchie’s films and understand everything. And music as well. He’s introduced me to some cool music,’ adds Chace.

‘He’ll say something like (attempts to do a rather cute British accent): ‘Can you take out the rubbish’ And the garage means the gas station. Those two get me every time.

The beginning of series two, which is currently airing in the States, is yet to hit our screens but we hear that in the opening sequence we see Chace run around in his pants.

Ooooh-errrr missus.

And the 23-year-old says he’s not embarrassed to get his kit off. Hurrah!

‘Not really I think I was in my socks and boxers. That was the only time I had to do it. I though it was more humorous than anything.’

There’s good news for Gossip Girl fans, Chace tells us the cast have signed up for six years so there are definitely a few more series’ to go.

Hurrah!
