Russell Brand has admitted he likes to let women believe he is gay in a bid to sleep with them.

The comedian told US host David Letterman that women often assume he is gay so they feel less threatened by his advances.

‘In spite of appearances, I’m a heterosexual male,’ said Brand. ‘Because I’m so well dressed, people thing ‘He must be gay. Look at his haircut, he must be gay. Look how sensitive and vulnerable he is, he must be gay.

‘That means women feel safe around me. They trust me. Then bang! Pregnant! Bang! Pregnant! Bang! Pregnant! Another generation. We continue.’

This was Russell’s first American TV appearance since Manuelgate where he and Jonathan Ross left obscene messages on Fawlty Towers’ actor Andrew Sachs’ answering machine.

But luckily for Russ, Letterman failed to bring this touchy topic up!
