BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘CAN YOU FEEL IT?’ OUT ON 15TH JUNE 2009 ON CROWN RECORDS

The fans of pop quintet Avenue just can’t help proving the nay-sayers wrong. A home-made video of the band performing a cover of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ has managed to push recent Brit Award winners Girls Aloud back into No.2 and 3 spots on the most viewed music videos on You Tube this week. In fact, so many people have watched the video, that it managed to hit No.2 on the worldwide most viewed music videos too.

With fan power driving Avenue to be one of the hottest pop prospects in the UK, and X Factor runners-up JLS gearing up for a debut album release later in the year, 2009 could well be the year when the term boy band isn’t being applied to, well, men old enough to be our dads.

Signed to independent label Crown Records, Avenue have managed to capture a sizeable loyal following by tuning in to what their fans want. With You Tube taking over from Myspace in the first-stop-shop post-school, teenagers are tuning in to the online video channel for their early evening entertainment. For Avenue, it all started with the McFly tour last November, when an early support slot helped spring their profile from the low Nineties to No.16 on the influential Bebo Music Chart. Since then, the band have worked tirelessly building on that fan base. Online, their fans have been tuning in to regularly updated vBlogs, capturing the frat-house antics of the band on the road or in the house they all share together. Who needs kids TV now? The band respond personally to all questions and comments left on their Bebo and Myspace pages too, which has allowed their fans to feel part of the band’s success.

Crown Records release Avenue’s brand new single ‘Can You Feel It?’ on 15th June 2009. An uptempo floor-filler written by The Invisible Men (Sugababes, V V Brown, Gabriella Cilmi, Noisettes) hit songwriting team, the track proved a live favourite on the McFly tour. The single is taken from the band’s debut album which is set for release in the Autumn.
