confirmed - michael jackson has died at 50
Very sad news, but it has now been confirmed by NBC that Michael Jackson has died!
Jackson who was 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12.00pm local time 19.00pm GMT. Paramedics on the scene were unable to revive him it has been reported on TMZ.com.
The LA Times were told by a fire department captain that he was not breathing when they arrived and they then administered CPR before he was taken to UCLA Medical Center for treatment.
A cadiologist at UCLA informed a celebrity website of the stars death.
The surounding area of the hospital has been completely surrounded by police with huge press prescence along with thousands of fans appearing walking around stunned.
The singer had been due to begin a series of comeback concerts in the UK on 13 July, but a history of health problems had meant he had not completed a concert tour in 12 years.
CNN reported:
“Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles Thursday morning.
Family members were told of the situation and were either at the hospital or en route, Oxman said.
At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying. “

Although Michael has been out of the public eye for quite a while, this is still hard news to take. I cannot say that I am or have been the greatest MJ fan (I was too young when he rocked) but I definitely have a great respect for him as an artist. The news of his death just sadend my day and probably my weekend…
