The first programme features warm and witty interviews with Royle cast members Liz Smith MBE, Sue Johnston OBE and Ricky Tomlinson, Ralf Little, Jessica Hynes, Sheridan Smith and Geoffrey Hughes. Writer Phil Mealey and luminary fans of the series Catherine Tate, Paul Whitehouse, Willy Russell, Jimmy McGovern and Henry Normal also share their fondest recollections of this enduring comedy.
Mark Radcliffe provides the voiceover and a brass band rework the hits of Oasis to complete the Mancunian ambience.
In the second programme, The Royle Family Portrait, Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash showcase their favourite scenes from the show ranging from Dave and Denise’s wedding to Jim Royle’s wiggly-bottomed dad dancing. Alongside the creators of The Royle Family, other members of the cast and a host of celebrity fans – including Matthew Horne, Catherine Tate, Bob Mortimer and Mick Hucknall - pick their favourite moments from the series.
