River Island re-launches Chelsea Girl
River Island has recently announced the re-launch of Chelsea Girl with a capsule collection landing in stores this month. Chelsea Girl was a high street favourite of the 60s, 70s and 80s before evolving into River Island in 1988. At a time when vintage clothing continues to inspire, the launch of Chelsea Girl at River Island draws from the fashion heritage of the original Chelsea Girl brand. The collection has a vintage spirit with a unique 21st century twist.
The clothing ranges from affordable mini-skirts and shorts, crop t-shirts, wide leg trousers and printed maxi dresses in rich and exhuberant tones that have a trend driven appeal - we love the new range! Elsewhere peasant sleeves and high waistlines reaffirms Chelsea Girl’s timeless streak whilst being consistent with the new romanticism dominating fashion now. Separates in the flattering form of paper bag denim are given a distressed edge for a casual and chic look. Crop t-shirts and canvas bags resurrect the emblematic ‘Chelsea Girl’ logo, while the hand crocheted dress is reminiscent of evocative and iconic campaign images which made Chelsea Girl a fashion favourite.
To celebrate the launch of the Chelsea Girl Collection, from March 24th River Island is offering its Facebook community the chance to be a stylist for a day with Cosmopolitan.co.uk and River Island on an all expenses trip to London. Each week for a month, River Island fans will be invited to build an outfit using the Chelsea Girl Item of the Week. The creator of the most individual outfit of the week wins £200 in River Island vouchers. An overall winner will be chosen at the end of the four weeks.
