Great Escape 1 : How to say goodbye – at his place

After getting naked with him last night, you’ve woken up to the smell of a fry up. He’s clearly still working his charm. But with one eye half open so you can pretend to be asleep if he comes back into the room – you’re planning your escape. I know! The morning after can be utterly cringe-worthy! Which is clearly why well over half of women want to make a speedy exit after a one night stand.

Whilst you may now realise he looked a lot better in dim lighting, doing a runner simply isn’t an option, ladies! If you’re plucky enough to have sex with someone you don’t know very well, it means you’re big enough to be upfront with him. Treat him how you would like to be treated. Always be kind. And no, being kind doesn’t mean giving him a fake number. You have to combine kindness with directness. Most men don’t pick up on subtleties. If you’re not interested, tell him what a great time you had, but this is where things end for you. Really. He’ll appreciate you not playing games.

Great Escape 2. The brunch ‘date’

If you think the man in bed could be someone you might like to date, ideally you should still leave his place after the fling has been flung. It will give you a greater chance of starting the dating process with some good old fashioned courting. If you’re in your 30s this kind of deferred pleasure will make sense to you. But if you’re in your 20s and reading this, your romantic love bubble probably hasn’t burst yet. And you’re likely to want to ignore me.

So if you insist on saying yes to brunch, the first rule is to check your make up isn’t half way down your face. Secondly, over your cappuccino, keep the conversation casual. This isn’t the time to be talking about your hopes and dreams. Save that for the first real date. You know. The one where a phone call precedes it. And yes. Call me old fashioned. A phone call is the only way you should be saying yes to a date!

Great Escape 3: Saying goodbye – when you’re at home

If you’ve done what some consider to be the decent thing to do and let him stay, there’s a good chance you’ll be fretting about how to get him to leave. Try not to worry. Don’t over analyse it and follow these steps. If he’s in your bed and still snoring, get dressed, bring him a glass of water (a tea won’t do here, as he will only have to wait for it cool down), and tell him your parents are coming over for the day, so he needs to leave. Don’t miss off the he needs to leave part. Or else you’ll find yourself with an extra lunch guest. Once he’s out of the door, wash the sheets and have a confessional with your best mate.

Great Escape 4: Don’t fall asleep cuddling!

Waking up next to someone you don’t know may feel incredibly intimate. But you may be faking it, without even knowing it. Here’s the thing: when you orgasm, your body produces oxytocin. This so called hug drug makes you, as a woman, feel attached to the person you’ve just slept with. That’s why after sex some women feel needy – wanting to meet up again or asking for some kind of commitment. What’s shocking is all of this can happen even when you haven’t stopped to ask yourself if you even like him! The solution: have a taxi company on speed dial. After some post coital friendly chit chat, order it. Then make sure, whether you’re at his place or yours, one of you leaves in it.

And don’t forget…

One night stands are for women who feel comfortable enough to express their sexuality with a near stranger. This means they’re not for everyone. A quarter of women say a one night stand leaves them with an empty feeling. But the chances are, any feelings of loneliness existed before the no strings attached sex. Sex is simply the vehicle which has got you in touch with your vulnerability.

Being in touch with your feelings isn’t always an easy option. But it’s useful to sit with any sadness, so you can move past it. If you find yourself in someone’s bed and you regret it, don’t hold back. Have a good cry. Yes really. Acknowledging your own feelings and then expressing them will soothe you. Then write a list of 20 things that make you feel safe, secure and loved; and give yourself one of these gifts each day. Next, with your best friend (so she can remind you how loved you are), have a girly heart to heart. And spoil yourself with some chocolate. Why? Because chocs (the darker the better) contain the feel good chemical phenylethylamine (PEA). This so called love cocktail is exactly what our bodies produce in the early stages of dating to help us feel attracted to a partner. Which is why, if you’re feeling lonely, I would always recommend choosing chocolate over a one night stand to make yourself feel better!

As we hurtle towards the climax of the last ever Big Brother, it’s true to say we have met some real characters over the years. The very last winner will be catapulted into a life of fame and fortune, for a little while at least. But will he or she be as generous as the first ever winner of Big Brother, who gave away his £70k winnings to help a sick friend. Would you do the same?

The most likely answer is yes. New research by The National Lottery for the EuroMillions draw found that the UK is actually a pretty generous place, with the average Brit willing to share their money regardless of whether they won a £10 million or £100 million jackpot.

From holidays, to clearing friend’s debts or mortgages, we all seem to be a pretty generous bunch and would give away on average around a fifth of winnings to family and friends.

Charities would benefit too, with most of us dedicating some dosh to a couple of our favourite charities. One in three of us would prefer to follow in the footsteps of celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Bono, and consider setting up our own charitable trust if we won a big jackpot.

In fact, just to confirm that it really is better to share, one in four of us said we would even give money to someone we didn’t like if we knew they really needed it.

One man who knows all about generosity and supporting a worthy cause is the winner of the very first Big Brother Craig Phillips. He donated all of his winnings to his friend Joanna Harris who had Down’s syndrome.

The show has come a long way since the day Craig and his fellow contestants entered the house and in the following video he shares his views on the final round of BB contestants and why being able to give his winnings to such a worthy cause meant so much.

Dawn Porter on why checking your boobs is vital for everyone of all ages

Boobs, melons, breasts, call them what you will but whatever affectionate name we have for our breasts, there’s no doubt they’re a massive (or small and perfectly formed) part of who we are.

And while we spend a great deal of time and money ‘supporting’ our assets, do we really know what’s going on underneath our bras?

Most of us know that regular breast checks are the key to keeping on top of the threat of breast cancer, but new research released from Bravissimo has shown only a fifth of British women been shown how to do it by an expert and are comfortable with their level of knowledge.

And it seems the younger we are the more likely we are to be blasé, with many of us believing the disease is only an issue for the older generations.

So to help us all become more breast-aware, Bravissimo the retailer for women with bigger boobs, has partnered with breast cancer charity Coppafeel to launch a campaign to make sure all of us, no matter what age, are doing everything we can to keep our breasts healthy.

In the following video, TV presenter Dawn Porter whose mother and great grandmother both died of the disease and the founder of Coppafeel Kristin Hallenga, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, aged just 23, talk about how getting to know your boobs can save your life.

Shout for England!

As football fans across the country prepare for a summer of nail biting highs and lows, TalkTalk and Sony today announce the release of ‘Shout’ by Shout for England, a track set to become England’s unofficial World Cup anthem. And what’s more, they need your help to do it…

Musical mastermind and current number one Dizzee Rascal and comedy genius James Corden have been let loose in the studio to create a bang up to date version of Shout – a remix of the 80’s classic by Tears for Fears. But that’s not all. The boys and TalkTalk want the whole of England to get involved and show their support by singing the chorus for the song.

From today Wednesday 3 June, TalkTalk is calling on England fans to visit talktalk.co.uk/shoutforengland or to free phone 08000 49 49 49 for the chance to sing on the track. From now until midday on Friday 4th June, TalkTalk want as many people as possible to call or go online to add their voices to what could become one of the biggest mass participation singles ever released. Entries will be collated and the final track will be released on Sunday 13 June 2010.

Having submitted their recording, fans will not only feature on the track, but could also find fame in the official video that will show clips from a selection of those uploaded to the site. The progress of the single can be followed on the TalkTalk website, which will have all the latest news, be the first place to hear the track and watch the video.

All you ever wanted to know about Son’s of Anarchy leading man Charlie Hunnam.

Charlie Hunnam stars as Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller in Sons of Anarchy, a man whose love for the brotherhood will eventually be tested by his growing apprehension for its lawlessness.

1. Despite his very convincing American accent in Sons of Anarchy, Charles Matthew Hunnam is as British as they come, born and raised in Newcastle England on April 10, 1980.

2. In 1999 at the tender age of just 19, Charlie landed his first major role as Nathan Maloney in the controversial British TV show, Queer as Folk.

3. But Hunnam’s acting career didn’t start there. He was actually discovered in a shoe shop aged nine and subsequently cast in the Children’s BBC TV show, Byker Grove.

4. Charlie was the face of the 2005 advertising campaign for Emporio Arman

5. Hunnam auditioned for the role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 2, but lost out on the role to Hayden Christensen.

6. Hunky Hunnam has a softer side too. He’s a cat lover and has two of his own named Mavis and George.

7. Hunnam’s favorite actors are Daniel Day-Lewis and Sean Penn.

8. Hunnam now lives in Los Angeles, California.

9. Charlie’s hobbies include painting, photography and making music.
