JUNE 17th: BIG BROTHER

The joy of Big Brother returning to our screens with a bang certainly numbs the pain of another sunless summer as we prepare to give up our social lives to tune into what can only be described as car crash TV. As much as we all complain that “we will never get sucked into brain dead tele” and “we won’t get as involved this year”, we still find ourselves glued to the set opening night with a bottle of wine and trying desperately to remember the names of the craziest and most annoying housemates to discuss with our colleagues the next day at work.

Little did we know that the one name we wouldn’t forget wouldn’t be the hottest guy or the campest drama queen, but that of the hideous creature that makes Charley from last year look like a pussy cat. Yes, Alexandra, who warned us all on her audition tape that if you argue with her it will be the last argument you ever have... “Remember I told you... I told you the meaning of ready...”

Yes I’d love to slap her too!

The mixture of characters this year should make for some good arguments with Alexandra and Sylvia joining forces to bitch about the rest of them, Dennis vying for the award of BB Drama Queen 2008 and Dale trailing around after Jennifer like a love sick puppy should definitely give the house something to gossip about.

With the first week over annoying Stephanie the golden girl scouser got the boot on the first eviction of the series. She should have stayed in the house over sleazy Mario who should have been dropped kicked out and booed all the way home. His angel persona is a wee bit too much to take. What with his self appointed role as Mikey’s Dad, and Alexandra’s foul mouthed attitude it shouldn’t take too much for the housemates to nominate these two for eviction.

Here’s hoping as nominations are revealed tomorrow.
