Wow. There really is no beginning to The Apprentice contestants' talents.
The brief - to invent a new celebratory occasion and design an accompanying card range. A dream task for a mob of self-proclaimed creative/marketing/sales experts, you would think.
Today's modern lifestyles surely offer up a plethora of possibilities - "National Coming Out Day", "Hip, Hip, Hooray! It's ASBO Week!", or even, "Happy Friends-You-Only-Communicate-With-Via-Facebook Month!"....the list goes on.
Team Renaissance had a much better idea, though- National Don't Send a Card Week! Well, as good as.
Yes, carrot-crunching Kevin and Co. came up with the brilliantly self-defeating National Save The Planet Week. Send a tree-destroying greetings card to a friend to, er, persuade them not to destroy trees. Either Renaissance's sense of the ironic is too sophisticated for the likes of us viewers, or they are all a bunch of brainless prats. I suspect the latter.
Spurred on by iron-chinned, eco-ijit Jenny, Kevin proceeded to exclaim to Tesco that their failure to buy into such a fail-safe, super-green idea was an environmental crime of the same magnitude as the US declaring it "doesn't care about pollution". What a fantastically persuasive technique - if a client's not buying your idea, tell 'em they're evil bastards.
Team Alpha had a slightly better idea- National Singles' Day. Sorry, National Single's Day. No, wait, I mean National Singles Day. No, hang on, can someone get me the inventor of the apostrophe on the 'phone?
Ahh, what joys will next week hold?
Maybe Sara will have another "nearly had an idea" moment...or even speak.....
