If you’re a victim of yo-yo dieting - skipping from one to
the other when you feel like you’re not achieving your ideal weight loss, it’s
more than likely that this will be the initial problem in your under-achieving. Often, entire food
groups are banned or are substituted with meal replacements so if a diet promises
rapid weight loss, you can bet it’ll be due to consuming significantly less
calories rather than a magic ingredient!
Not only are diets dull as ditchwater; they’re also a total
inconvenience, especially if you have to stick to a vigorous regime which can
make eating out a total nightmare. Then there’s the guilt involved if you do
fall off the wagon!
Unfortunately there’s not one single way to lose weight
successfully but the first thing you need to do is accept that it won’t drop
off over night and that you’ll probably need to change your idea of what losing
weight is all about. Next, you’ll have to set weight-loss goals, this way you
can set realistic targets but continue to eat a balanced diet. If you have an
extra chocolate one day, just replace it with an extra piece of fruit the day
after, don’t deny yourself certain foods, you’ll just end up craving them even
more.
Finally, keep exercising. It sounds obvious, but it really
does help in the overall scheme of things. With sensible eating and controlled
exercise, you’ll be on the way to a healthier new you.
