Fancy slim, shapely legs? Here’s how….
Transform your legs by shifting some pounds with a low-fat, low-calorie diet. Sorry, but you’ll need to do exercise too, so do three 30-minute cardio sessions like running, rowing or cycling, a week, with three total body-resistance workouts.
No need for the gym for squats, lunges and step-ups – so no excuse!
After work, go uphill walking and try Pilates and yoga for sculpting long, lean leg muscles.
Here are three great exercises to get you there. Do three sets, three times a week.
THIGH, BUM AND CALF FIRMERS
Do the straight leg lunge. Stand on a step and take a large stride off it, extending one leg back behind you.
Your front knee should be over your front ankle and the back leg should be long with a slight bend at the knee.
Keep the back knee and heel off the floor.
Hold in the tummy muscles as you lift yourself back up to a straight position.
Do 12 lunges on each leg.
THIGH TONERS
Stand with your feet wider than hip-width apart, with toes and knees pointing out at 45 degrees and hands on thighs.
Pull up through tummy muscles. Bend the knees and lower the torso towards the floor.
Keep the weight on the heels and your spine in neutral position with your tailbone pointing down as you lower.
Draw your weight onto one leg as you drag the other towards it. Use your inner thighs to draw your legs together.
Draw your legs apart and repeat on the other side.
Repeat 12 to 15 times on each leg, building up to three sets.
SMOOTH AND SOFT
Use a loofah, body brush or exfoliating mitt and body-brush every morning and evening before a shower or bath.
Gently brush upwards toward the heart in long, sweeping motions.
Keep legs well moisturised at all times – creams and lotions help plump up the upper layer of skin and make it look softer, smoother and younger.
BRONZE, BABY!
A tan gives the impression of longer, slimmer and more even-textured legs. Fake tan is best for a safe all-year round tan.
Always exfoliate first and massage in a light moisturiser before applying tanning product.
SHIMMER
Rubbing body oil into legs will make them shimmer and look gorgeous over tanned skin. Olive, sunflower or almond oil will do the trick.
